The most recent success of Jay's Tornado sails is undoubtedly a silver
medal finish by Johnny Lovell and Charlie Ogletree at both the 2004
Athens Olympics and the 2004 Tornado Worlds. While working at Ullman
Sails, Jay and Alison built mains and jibs for Johnny and Charlie
as well as sails for the Puerto Rican and British teams.
Jay
has a strong and steady commitment to the Tornado class both as
an athlete and coach as well as sailmaker. He is a two-time World
Champion, Olympic Silver medalist, seven-time North American Champion,
and nine-time U.S. National Champion. He has coached Tornados at
the last two Olympics and continues coaching elite sailors.
Jay's
sail designs have been very successful. One year after opening Danger
Sails, his Tornado sails won the Gold and Silver medals in the 1988
Olympics. After becoming a partner in Ullman Sails in 1993, Jay
designed and sailed with those sails through 1996, and then coached
and built sails through 2004.
Glaser
Sails Tornado designs for 2005 for jib and spinnaker are the same
as those used in the 2004 Olympics, while the main has been redesigned
to fit the new carbon mast.
