MULTIHULLS
When the Hobie Tiger Worlds came
to Santa Barbara in the spring of 2005 the local
fleet decided to prepare by having Jay and Pease run a weekend
racing clinic. Eight boats participated with sailors coming from
Long Beach, San Diego, Arizona, and New York. This clinic was
such a success that they organized another one day event just
prior to the Worlds!
"It
was a great weekend. Eileen and I learned more about sailing our
Tiger in two days than we have in the year and a half we have
been racing it."

KEELBOATS
Liz Hjorth, Denise George and their women's
match racing team have been taking advantage of Pease's coaching
skills for two seasons now. Last year, the team from Marina del
Rey, CA, was invited to compete in the US Women's National Match
Race held at New York YC in Newport, RI. Competing
against the best women sailors from all over the country (including
their coach -- Pease was the tactician & mainsail trimmer on
the winning boat) they finished 9th out of 12. This year they have
been practicing for Bettina Bents and the Prince of Wales regatta
held at Newport Harbor YC. To warm them up they flew to Vancouver
to compete for the Lambert Cup in Martin 242's and took home their
first, first place trophy.
"We
never could have done it without Pease. Match racing can be difficult
both tactically and physically and our learning curve was steep,
but she made it fun and we saw results immediately."
